Let’s decorate hearts using the crayon resist method!

Valentine’s Crayon Resist Art

Resist art is such a fun and unique art style. The paint doesn’t cover the crayon like the traditional paper because of the wax. Which means you can make super neat art with fun designs and details.

And because it is Valentine’s day we decided to do it on hearts! Kids can explore a new art technique, practice fine motor skills, and explore colors with this super fun crayon resist art. So without further ado, let’s make some fun and colorful hearts!

How To Make This Heart Crayon Resist Art Your Own

Just like our other crafts you can make this craft your own by change up things to fit your style and needs. You could do stuff like:

  • Decorate your heart on a piece of cardboard so it makes a sturdy decoration for the wall.
  • Use a sponge instead of paintbrush for paint texture.
  • Do this resist art on watercolor paper instead of a piece of paper and give it as a Valentine’s day card.
  • Use multiple colors on 1 heart.
  • Instead of using colorful Crayola crayons do all your designs using a white crayon.
  • Paint your hearts in only dark colors while using light color crayons.
  • Write secret messages on your heart.

Our Experience With This Heart Crayon Resist Art

This is some big family fun. My big kids and little kids both enjoyed decorating their hearts. This is an easy art project that can be used around Valentine’s day as seasonal crafts or on its own.

But it’s also a fun and budget-friendly craft hat is great for creative kids to decorate with crayons and get messy with a paint brush and watercolour paints. Paint and glitter, I think that is our favorite supplies when it comes to art. And while we didn’t play in glitter this time, we had a blast painting! We hope your family had as much fun as we did with this heart crayon resist art.
