Greenhouse Training Online ‘Field Diagnosis of Plant Diseases’ | UF/IFAS
Field Diagnosis of Plant Diseases is an intermediate-level course from the University of Florida’s Greenhouse Training Online program that teaches the detection and diagnosis of common greenhouse and nursery diseases, including appropriate and field-friendly scouting and sampling techniques.
Field Diagnosis of Plant Diseases is taught by Dr. Carrie Harmon, Director of the UF/IFAS Plant Diagnostic Center in Gainesville, FL, and Co-Director of the National Plant Diagnostic Network. This brand-new course expands on the past Disease Management course, which students described as “very dynamic, which makes it easy to understand and apply to our day-to-day work in the greenhouse.” This course is part of the Plant Health Professional Certificate.
Course participants will:
- Learn to identify plant diseases
- Learn to different between diseases and other plant problems
- Learn how to detect and diagnose common greenhouse and nursery diseases using scouting and sampling techniques
- Learn field methods to identify common pathogens
The course runs from Sept. 16 to Oct. 11, 2024. All course material is completely online and available at any time of the day. It includes pre-recorded videos, an interactive discussion board with Ph.D. professors, and quizzes. Course material is available in English and in Spanish, and two new modules are activated each week during each course, for a total of eight learning modules.
